Michael Setala grew up on the family farm in Kaministiquia, Ontario. He started writing children’s books when he was just thirteen years old. The Pirates of Nirado River is one of the first books he wrote. Besides being an author, Michael also owns Kivela Bakery in Thunder Bay.

Elle Andra-Warner is the author of several highly praised books of non-fiction, such as Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, Robert Service, Hudson’s Bay Company Adventures, and The Mounties. She is a long-time resident of Thunder Bay.

Tania L. Saj is an anthropologist, with a Ph.D. from the University of Calgary. She is the author of numerous publications in biological and anthropological journals; Life in a Thundering Bay is her first book. Thunder Bay is her hometown.
